What Does an HVRAS Inspection Measure?
An HVRAS inspection records the prescribed dimensions and mass measurements for the vehicle. These typically include:

- Axle group weights and spacing
- Gross vehicle mass and aggregate trailer mass
- Tyre and wheel specifications

A Certificate of Inspection (COI) is a periodic safety inspection for maintaining an already-registered heavy vehicle. A vehicle being brought into Queensland may require an HVRAS assessment now and ongoing COI inspections later.

If you have moved a heavy truck, heavy trailer or heavy caravan from another state into Queensland, do not assume your interstate registration or inspection documents automatically satisfy Queensland requirements. An HVRAS assessment is often part of establishing Queensland registration for an interstate heavy vehicle.
