Vehicles that need a HVRAS inspection

You will need to book in a HVRAS inspection if you are looking to register a:

• heavy vehicle which has a gross vehicle mass over 4.5 tonnes or
• a trailer with an aggregate trailer mass over 750kg

Imported vehicles that have never been registered in Australia cannot be inspected and measured in the HVRAS scheme. If you are relocating to Queensland from another state and own any of the following, you will need to book in for a HVRAS inspection before applying for registration.

• Bus
• Prime mover
• Rigid bus or truck
• Pig trailer
• Dog trailer
• Semi Trailer
• Heavy haulage, low loader, dolly
• Special purpose vehicles (including cranes)

Why do I need a HVRAS inspection?

The purpose of an inspection is to ensure these vehicles comply with measurement and weight restrictions as well as to check your vehicles identifier numbers.

• Display of correct compliance and modification plates
• Vehicle identifier checks including:
  • Engine number
